Every season, thousands of families lose money to fake Kedarnath helicopter booking websites and WhatsApp "agents". The real tickets are cheaper than most people think — and they are sold in only one place.
The only official booking website
Kedarnath helicopter shuttle tickets are sold only on the IRCTC HeliYatra portal (heliyatra.irctc.co.in), run by IRCTC for the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA). No private website, Facebook page, Instagram account or WhatsApp number can sell you an official seat directly.
How booking works
- Complete your Char Dham / Kedarnath yatra registration first — the helicopter booking needs your registration number.
- Create an account on the IRCTC HeliYatra portal.
- Bookings open in phases, announced shortly before. Log in on time — seats for peak dates are gone within minutes.
- Choose your helipad, date and slot. Each user ID can book a limited number of passengers.
- Pay online and download the ticket. Carry the same photo ID used at booking.
Which helipad to choose?
- Guptkashi: The longest flight (about 20 minutes), but convenient if you stay in Guptkashi.
- Phata: Popular and central, about 10 minutes.
- Sersi: Close to Phata, similar flight time.
From the Kedarnath helipad, the temple is about 500 m on foot.
Weather and delays
Flights only operate in good visibility. Morning slots are usually the most reliable. Always keep a buffer day in your plan — this is why our Kedarnath itineraries never schedule the helicopter on the last possible day.
